Donating Blood

Donation of blood can be termed as an act of prime philanthrophy as it would serve the purpose of protecting a human life, a fellow being, or an accident victim or those who want to survive. It will not only reduce the number of dying persons due to lack of blood but refill the joy amongst family members of victims. Also this act would help blood banks like ours to control declining stocks. And it is the right time to feel responsible and have some concern over the growing number of deaths caused mainly due to lack of blood in the blood banks. Truly, as donor one may feel great when one finds gratitude in the form of tears among the family members of the victims. This is like helping a family lead the same normal lives.

Blood Components

Packed Cells
Packed Cells are concentrated Erythrocytes (RBC), which are important to carry Oxygen in the body. The patients of sever anemia with old age, and other cardiac problems where whole blood is contraindicated these packed cells can be of great use to treat anemia or other disease related with RBCs.

Platelets
The Platelets are the normal cells present in our blood, the main function of these cells is of the clotting of the blood and the normal count is <1 lac cells per cubic mm. In certain diseases viz: severe malaria, dengue fever, count of these cells gets drastically lowered down leading to bleeding disorder in our body and some times fatal too. In these conditions urgent transfusion of platelets are required to save the lives of the patient.

FFP
Fresh Frozen Plasma is the remaining part of fluid after extractions of the above-mentioned cells from the whole blood. The life of these FFPs are   up to 2 years and is required to be preserved at the temperature of minus 30 deg C. This fluid is having rich Amino Acid and other electrolytes which are more acceptable to the body and can be used in the patients where, there is a sever loss of body fluid like burns, extensive degloving injuries, internal hemorrhages.
